Free Blogging Resources

Saturday, February 21, 2015
When I started this blog, I filled my posts with crappy photos which I took myself, illustrations that I thought were awesome, and visuals that were, at that time, my best. I used to spend hours looking for free resources. Some of the links below were in none of the lists of free resources, so this is me, putting them on a list. So if you're a new blogger and you're looking for free stuff ('cause I know how much you love free stuff!), you might find these links useful.

Angiemakes not only sells gorgeous graphics, she also sets them as freebies! If you have a blog that's feminine and floral, you'll want to check out her website. There, you'll find free water color patterns, floral vectors, and everything girly.

Each month, you'll get a zip file of stunning, high-definition photos in your inbox. You can use them however you want, as long as you keep creating beautiful content. Death to the Stock Photo never fails to inspire me with their monthly set of images.

Unsplash updates their website with ten new images every ten days. They have free "do whatever you want" photos that are as beautiful as Death to the Stock Photo's. If you're in a hurry and you want to find HD images quick, Unsplash is the place to go.

Because I'm still in the "building" stage of blogging, I'm not going to invest in fonts just yet. Dafont is my trusty treasure chest for thousands of free fonts. It's easy to navigate and you can test the fonts with your own text. When it comes to dafont, you won't even see the difference between free fonts and fonts for sale.

Starsunflower Studio posts a monthly collection of free resources, like graphics, brushes, PSD files and all that. I find it convenient because when I look for resources, I'd rather stay in once place than hop from one website to another. They make it super easy to find what you're looking for.

I've learned that blogging requires you to make good visuals. Canva can help you with that. In Canva, you can choose from many templates that are simple to edit to your own style. They really do add spice to a post.

  1. I'm not super new to blogging but I am still getting the hang of all the visual aspects to it. I've used Canva a tiny bit and kind of like it :) I'll definitely check out the others. Thanks for the list!

    1. No problem! You could visit picjumbo.com too! They have pretty pictures; I just prefer Unsplash for the landscape photographs.
